As one of Northamptonshire’s Premier Wedding and Portrait Photographers, we have developed a unique style that is relaxed, exciting, unobtrusive yet totally contemporary, stylish and flexible to your individual needs. Based near Thrapston, Northamptonshire, we cover weddings across the East Midlands including Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. We are also happy to travel across the United Kingdom or overseas. We will also shoot family lifestyle portraiture across a similar area.
We are two friends working hard to add something different to the congested world of wedding and portrait photography.We benefit from two different yet complimentary photographic backgrounds and constantly push each other to produce the most amazing images of your day. As such, we are developing a product that combines the best of contemporary portraiture with the story-telling details and candid observations of documentary or reportage style photography (the terms seem to change regularly). One of the biggest concerns of any couple when choosing a photographer is just how much their wishes and their day will be respected. How much can they trust the photographer not to dominate the day? Don’t forget that we have also been guests at weddings! Watching a photographer crashing about amongst the guests, taking the bride and groom away from friends and family to indulge their own artistic ‘vision’ and generally only adding to the negative photographer stereotypes has just proved to be further motivation to continuing to grow our own business with it’s totally couple-centric approach. The day is all about you and we never forget that.

As far as Shears•Mockford is concerned, your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event and needs to be treated with complete respect. We will not dominate the proceedings. We will not take you away from your guests. Every couples’ needs are different. We would not presume to tell you how your wedding should be photographed. As the one abiding momento of your amazing day, we want to ensure our images are everything you hoped they would be. If you want us to, we will work with you to understand completely what it is you are after. For some this may involve wanting stunning portraiture – something truly magical that captures the essence of your love for each other. For others it may be a pure photojournalism or reportage approach with minimal interference and intrusion on the day. Shears•Mockford have the skill to cover any combination of requirements.
More importantly, if you need support in deciding exactly how you want the day photographed, we are able to help. As experienced photographers we are more than happy to offer pragmatic advice and a calm head both before and during your wedding. We will not be distant or formal. We are friendly and approachable and happy to offer what advice we can towards the planning of your day. This may include guidance on how to avoid stopping the flow of the day with a host of formal posed ‘family and friend’ shots – as a guide, we would always recommend no more than 4 or 5 but will always shoot more if requested – as long as the guests know it’s not us causing the hold-up!

We always offer a pre-wedding or “engagement” photo-shoot. Initially, some couples may be unsure of this but we would recommend it as a real opportunity for us to get to know each other. It also means that you can get in front of the lens and realise that it’s really not that scary and just how photogenic you really are! Examples of these shoots can all be seen on the wedding blog.
